Rome: Campidoglio & Capitoline Museums
The Campidoglio is the ancient Capitoline, sacred hill of the Romans and residence of the Capitoline Triad, Jupiter, Juno and Minerva. It offers the most spectacular view of the Roman Forum and it hosts on its top the famous Piazza redesigned by Michelangelo, with the Senatorial Palace in a frontal position and the Capitoline Museums, among the most important in the world to visit, on the lateral sides of the Square.
- Adjacent to the Capitoline is the Victorian Monument, dedicated to the first king of reunified Italy, Victor Emanuel II.
- Not far away we can reach the Largo Argentina where we can see the famous Sacred Area, so called for the presence of a high concentration of very ancient temples dedicated to pagan divinities.
- Adjacent to this area it was the entrance of Pompey’s Theater, right where Julius Caesar was assassinated.
